Nature and open air
Situated in the village of El Rocío, at the entrance of National Park Doñana and 15 minutes away from the beach at Matalascañas, campsite La Aldea is a perfect place to enjoy nature and the open air during the whole year.

Pilgrimage, moving and “sacá” of the mares Since ages, at the end of June, Almonte’s mare-ranchers, the «yegüerizos», leave for the marshlands in National Park Doñana to gather the mares and colts that have been grazing there during the whole year, to concentrate them on the beaches near El Rocío. After this work is done, they start the route to Almonte and take a stop in El Rocío to make a small act of presence before the Blanca Paloma statue. On the 26th of June they arrive at Almonte where on the next day the “tuza” starts, which consists of cutting the manes and tails, the marking and selling of some of the specimens.

Excursions on Horseback
La Aldea has numerous tourist services for the visitors and fans of activities related to the world of horses. During the whole year it is possible to rent horses and coaches in any of the equestrian centres that are available in the village that organize horse-rides through unique tracks and sites, with the possibility to enjoy a fantastic pick-nick.

A 4-hour tour in all-terrain vehicles, where you can share impressions and sensations with other people who are experiencing the same thing as you. If you’re wondering how to best visit Doñana, this is the option you’ve been looking for.
Classic Tour
Duration: 3 to 4 hours. Two departures daily.
Starting location and time: Our facilities in El Rocío. 8:00 a.m. for morning visits. Afternoon hours vary depending on the season.
Vehicle: Variable. 8 to 30 seats.
For those with disabilities, the company offers a 20% discount on the classic tour.
Included: Field sheets, binoculars for every two participants, and a telescope for the group.
Route: Coto del Rey pine forests, Matasgordas cork oak forests, Hinojos Marshes, José A. Valverde Visitor Center.
